Who is this for?

Kids ages roughly 5 to 13, though the sweet spot is 6–11. The site is designed to grow with them — younger kids get more help from parents; older kids do most of it themselves. The aesthetic flexes from playful to polished depending on the colors and voice they pick.

Is it actually private?

Yes. Every site is password-protected by default — only people you share the password with can see it. Sites are not indexed by Google, never appear in search, and we don’t run ads or collect kid data.

If you ever want a site to be fully public (some older kids want a real portfolio), we can flip that on. Default is locked down.

Why no YouTube?

Because the families this is built for usually don’t want their kid’s videos on YouTube — even unlisted ones. The platform is designed to keep viewers watching, with autoplay, recommendations, and an algorithm that wasn’t built for kids.

On Thumbprint, videos are uploaded directly to your kid’s site. They play once, they finish, and that’s it. No sidebar, no “up next,” no ads. Grandma watches the room tour, hits the back button, and goes about her day.

What if my kid wants to change something later?

One free update per quarter is included with hosting. Want to add new countries after a trip? New artwork? A new pet? Send us the changes and we’ll push them within 48 hours.

Bigger redesigns or extra updates beyond the quarterly one are $25 each.

What about photos and videos? How do I send them?

After you sign up, you’ll get a link to a private upload folder. Drop photos and videos in whenever — from your phone, computer, or by email. We handle the resizing, cropping, and placement.

Videos are uploaded directly to your kid’s site — no YouTube account needed, no “up next” sidebar, no ads. Just clean playback for the people you share with. (We do support YouTube embeds too, if you already have unlisted videos there.)

Up to 50 photos and 5 short videos (under 50MB each) are included. Need more? Each additional pack of 25 photos is $15.

What if my kid doesn’t travel / doesn’t have a pet / isn’t an artist?

Every section is optional. Sports, hobbies, pets, travels — if it doesn’t apply to your kid, we leave it out. The site flexes around what your kid actually does.

Big traveler but not artistic? Travels become the centerpiece. Sports kid who’s never left their state? We make their teams shine and skip the travels section. The point is that every Thumbprint looks different.

Why an annual fee?

The $99/year covers the .kids domain, secure hosting, the password gate, your quarterly update, and ongoing maintenance. We could charge a higher one-time fee instead, but most families prefer to pay as they go.

Cancel anytime. If you cancel, we hand you the site files so your kid still has it forever — just no longer at the mythumbprint.kids URL.
